Downlload wunderlist for mac desktop8/13/2023 ![]() ![]() Every person has a different way of writing their to-dos and requires a different tool based on their process of jotting down tasks. Just Googling to-do list apps can give you an overwhelming amount of results, all claiming to be the best one out there!īut why is the market literally filled with hundreds of to-do list apps? You see, to-do lists are personal. ![]() Too often I've been caught out by those shutdowns with no recourse: Astrid, Wunderlist, Crashplan, Wuala, Google Reader, the list goes on.If you are obsessed with productivity and always have tons of things to tackle in a day, I would bet you use a to-do list app. I'm not a fan of SaaS as somebody can pull the plug for any reason. There is a fork under ongoing development now at. Astrid was Free software, but there was no fork that was cooked-enough for me to use for a long time. I went to Wunderlist after Astrid Tasks was bought by Yahoo! and shut down just months later. But it doesn't always guarantee vitality of the project. It is key to be able to control your own destiny. I definitely choose Free software over proprietary whenever possible. No mention of Free software there, which I don't think is a surprise given that Wunderlist was not open code either. Looks like the new app is not a task app, but instead aimed at disrupting Powerpoint: That means that when you go grocery shopping, your grocery list becomes the active default list, and your everyday life list becomes active again when you return home.īy syncing your data to one of your online accounts, you can share lists with loved ones, collaborators, and colleagues.Īnother great feature is that if you the same tasks every morning when you get to work, or the same 20 items in your weekly grocery list, you can create tasks that repeat on a regular basis. Because all tasks are tagged, you can view groups of tasks by clicking the tag you want to filter for, but you can also filter by day and even by place. It takes a little getting used to, but tagging has many advantages. You can assign a colour and an icon so each list of tasks is unique. When you create a tag, you create a category for tasks. If you're like me and you want to maintain several unique lists, you can do that with Tags. The default view of Tasks is a daily view, so any task you enter is assumed to be a task from today onward. ![]() You can save your lists to NextCloud or OwnCloud, Google Tasks, Apple Reminders, and just about any CalDAV server you have an account on. Tasks is a mobile-only application, but it's extremely flexible in what it can sync to. Tasks is a free and open source app you can install from F-droid. this might be a good time to try one of these digital options out. Or, if you are that person scribbling tasks and notes on paper scraps and post-it notes that are lying. ![]() I've also enjoyed using it for a list that isn't an "active" document: a list I don't review weekly or make regular progress on-like my many lists I've used for brainstorming an idea (including that novel I've been meaning to write.).įrom the many wonderful articles we've published over the years, I've curated a list of open source alternatives to Wunderlist that may work for your needs, from simple task management and to-do lists to complex note-taking and process management. With Wunderlist, I've specifically enjoyed its combination of simplicity and design, and that it managed to implement useful features like sharing and collaboration with others, dynamics checkboxes for lists, and a great user experience across both mobile and web interfaces. There are a gazillion list apps out there. While its users loved it, Wunderlist isn't entirely unique.
